Willie Collazo - NY MetsWillie Collazo is a former Major League Baseball pitcher from Carolina, PR. He pitched for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). Since 2016, Collazo worked as a minor league pitching coach in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Willie graduated from Florida International University, where he went 13–1 as a senior and helped his team to the first-ever NCAA Division I Super Regional Baseball Championship tournament. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 2001 Major League Baseball draft. Collazo played for the Braves, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets organizations. He was called up to the Mets on September 1, 2007, and made his major league debut on September 5, 2007, against the Cincinnati Reds. He became a free agent at the end of the 2008 season and signed a minor league contract with the Florida Marlins. Last played in the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 2010 to 2013. Also spent the last five seasons as a pitching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

His journey through professional baseball is an excellent example of GRIT (perseverance, passion, and consistency) not giving up easily was necessary to sustain a career playing professionally. Willie’s ability to adapt to change and to incorporate new pitches and build skill sets kept him competitive in the cutthroat world of professional baseball. As a pitcher at that level, he’s not so average build (not 6-4 or over), highlighting that getting noticed and being successful isn’t just about size and body type. Willie demonstrates that hard work and grit can prove to be the most important aspects of this game. Additionally, Willie employs the mental approach to getting guys out. He studies hitters, their statistics, and their mechanics to analyze and decide the best pitches in his repertoire to get the job done. You will immediately benefit from his coaching abilities.
