Coastal Florida Sports Park (CFSP) is excited to announce the addition of Chris Capozzi as Vice President of Sports Operations and Leadership Development. Chris will be responsible the growth and development of the athletic and leadership programs on campus. He comes to CFSP with an extensive background in these areas as a former youth, high school, college and minor league baseball coach, as well as numerous years as an executive coach and consultant. Capozzi’s focus is on creating a world class experience for the attendees in our tournaments, training, and our all-inclusive experiences.
Chris is passionate about the proper training and development of today’s athletes and tomorrow’s leaders. His vast experience in coaching has led to the placement of over 100 NCAA athletes and numerous players being drafted or signed by Major League Baseball organizations. He has worked with USA Baseball and placed numerous players on our national teams to win gold medals. In the dugout he will also guide our CFSP Stars National Team. He has coached on the NCAA level with three different institutions and professionally in the NY-Penn and Frontier Leagues. Chris has also served as an executive for Ripken Baseball. Most recently he owned his own training and development company, Caps Sports, and worked in fundraising with Great American Opportunities helping schools, teams and groups.
When he is not on the field, leadership development is where his efforts will be spent. Capozzi says “the experience we are creating at CFSP is not just for today but to create leaders for tomorrow.” He will include various leadership and personal development activities on campus before, during and after events. In addition a new business team building program will be launched under his direction. Chris has coached and consulted with companies such as Starbucks, Toyota, Cleveland Clinic, Hard Rock Cafe and Kroger.
Chris is a native of Akron, OH, but now resides in Cocoa, FL and is the father of four children (19, 16, 12, 9). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Malone University in Canton, OH.
Willie Collazo is a former Major League Baseball pitcher from Carolina, PR. He pitched for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). Since 2016, Collazo worked as a minor league pitching coach in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
Willie graduated from Florida International University, where he went 13–1 as a senior and helped his team to the first-ever NCAA Division I Super Regional Baseball Championship tournament. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 2001 Major League Baseball draft. Collazo played for the Braves, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets organizations. He was called up to the Mets on September 1, 2007, and made his major league debut on September 5, 2007, against the Cincinnati Reds. He became a free agent at the end of the 2008 season and signed a minor league contract with the Florida Marlins. Last played in the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 2010 to 2013. Also spent the last five seasons as a pitching coach for the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
His journey through professional baseball is an excellent example of GRIT (perseverance, passion, and consistency) not giving up easily was necessary to sustain a career playing professionally. Willie’s ability to adapt to change and to incorporate new pitches and build skill sets kept him competitive in the cutthroat world of professional baseball. As a pitcher at that level, he’s not so average build (not 6-4 or over), highlighting that getting noticed and being successful isn’t just about size and body type. Willie demonstrates that hard work and grit can prove to be the most important aspects of this game. Additionally, Willie employs the mental approach to getting guys out. He studies hitters, their statistics, and their mechanics to analyze and decide the best pitches in his repertoire to get the job done. You will immediately benefit from his coaching abilities.
Willie is married to Sofia Collazo and together they share their home with son Marcos (15), daughter Camila (7) and Bianca (5) and their Lab-dog Olivia.
Rafael will head up Coastal Florida Sports Park’s soccer division. He has spent more than 13 years as a professional player in the United States and Brazil Football League (BFL), which is major league soccer in Brazil. In addition Rafael has coached and managed D-1 University soccer teams in the U.S. and Brazil as head coach. In 2016 he set an all time record for the most wins of any head coach in school history at his D-1 college in Texas.
Rafael has a wide range of relationships with hundreds of soccer organizations around the world which plan to attend events at Coastal Florida Sports Park. His extensive experience in playing, managing, and coaching at more than 15 soccer organizations worldwide will be shared with the up and coming top prospects and players that attend camps, professional training, showcases and events at Coastal Florida Sports Park and CES Academy.
Sam Vincent played basketball for over 15 years, to include playing on NBA teams Boston Celtics, Seattle Super Sonics, Chicago Bulls, and the Orlando Magic. He also has over 20 years of successful international sports program development, management, and coaching experience, including being a head coach for the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets and international basketball teams. Coach Vincent brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.
As founder of The Global Coach Foundation, Coach Vincent has dedicated his life to the betterment of youth around the world through academic, athletic, and social life skills development, the core principals of CES Academy.
With experience coaching and managing at all levels of professional basketball, Coach Vincent will share his knowledge and talent with the student-athletes of CES Academy.
